Word for 2022
While I was asking the Lord what lies ahead for the year 2022, He dropped this Scripture into my heart:
"So they rose early in the morning and went out into the Wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, 'Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.' And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the Lord, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying: 'Praise the Lord, for His mercy endures forever.'
"Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated." (2 Chronicles 20:20-22, NKJV).
The Double 2
I immediately thought of the prophetic meaning of the double 2. The double 2 has been showing up for many Believers over the last decade – in all kinds of places and ways – to encourage them through many different situations. One of the prophetic meanings for these double digits is God opening doors and shutting doors – keys of authority (Isaiah 22:22).
The the Hebrew number for 2 (as in the Hebrew year 5782 that we have just entered) is symbolized as a house. The Lord is saying that we will see a fresh apostolic anointing to build the house of God, equipping the Church to shut the door to fear and open the door of faith in His house. God wants His people to be confident stepping into this new era; assured of His plans and purposes for His Body.
2022 is a building year. There is no room for doubt in 2022. This central truth will arise in the hearts of God's people: Jesus is building His house and the gates of Hell will not prevail, no matter what it looks like (Matthew 16:18).
As I meditated on the above passage of 2 Chronicles 20:20-22, these were some of the prophetic highlights that were brought to my attention:
Firstly, King Jehoshaphat is the main person in these Scriptures. God is saying that there will be a kingly anointing. There is authority available to those who will be bold enough to stand up and say to the people around them: "Listen! Have faith in God. His plans have not changed; He will uphold us. Don't worry about what the enemy is doing. Stay focused on His goodness."
There have been so many distractions and upheavals over the past 18 months. These distractions have taken the focus of God's people. I believe that apostolic leaders will play a big part in re-centering and re-focusing God's people in 2022.
Believe in His Prophets, Release God's Promises
Then the Lord highlighted the words "believe in His prophets" to me. What does that mean in 2022? It means having belief in what God has said to you prophetically. Believe the prophetic words that have been spoken over your family, region, and nation. There is a call in 2022 to start rigorously rehearsing and releasing God's promises and not what the enemy is doing.
I believe God is also showing us, through this passage, that worship is a weapon to use against the enemy. Worship is the response we need against the schemes of the enemy if we want to see breakthrough in 2022.
The Lord pointed out to me that King Jehoshaphat asked the men to go before the army and sing, "Praise the Lord, for His mercy endures forever" (see 2 Chronicles 20:21). It's our job to cry mercy over the earth in this hour. Many cries have gone up for justice. God's mercy is something we don't deserve, but He willingly gives it to us, pardoning our flaws to show His loving kindness to the world. There are different seasons where justice is required, but in this place in time, we desperately need a total wave of God's mercy to cover the nations.
Lastly, He showed me (through these verses) that worship is a catalyst to see increased angelic activity. "Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people..." (2 Chronicles 20:22). I believe these ambushes were angels who caused the armies to fight against each other. The Scripture says that God set ambushes against Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir.
The Lord spoke to me about the meaning for each enemy group, because He will be sending angelic ambushes against them, on our behalf, in 2022.
Ammon – symbolic of whatever is stopping God's people from entering new territory.
Moab – symbolic of God's people coming short of their promised land.
Mount Seir – symbolic of mountains or obstacles sent to hinder; the enemy making things look bigger than they are.
We must remember to use our authority to release angelic hosts, to use praise as our weapon, and to not concentrate on the wiles of the enemy. The harvest is ripe and we are not alone in the fields. The Lord of the harvest has gone before us. We will see things we have never seen before in 2022. There will be great battles, but we will see the enemy greatly defeated.
